At Christmas, my niece gave me a beautiful painting that she did. I want to get it framed, but every place I've taken it to have it professionally framed has told me that any frame style I choose will cover at minimum an inch of the painting on every side.
Normally an inch isn't that big, but the painting covers the entire surface of the canvas and covering even such a small amount on each side will take away from the design of the painting. So I have a dilemma - have it framed and hope it doesn't take away from the painting too badly or hang it without being framed.
