Monday Check In

Last week...

Writing Related: Nothing worth mentioning was accomplished writing wise last week. I took two days to finish crocheting the baby blanket I was making for my niece. I wanted to have it finished before she actually gave birth and I was cutting it close. Two other days of the week I had appointments. Looking forward to being much more productive this week.

Motivational Quote: It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can." ~ Sidney Smith.  I'm repeating last week's motivational quote because all I could do last week was a little. Small progress is better than no progress.

What I'm Reading: I started Scone Cold Killer by Lena Gregory on Sunday afternoon but I'm not very far into it. It's the first book in the All Day Breakfast Cafe series. I haven't read anything by Ms. Gregory before. It's a really short book, less than 200 pages so I should have it finished by the end of today or tomorrow.

Random Things: I have this coming Friday and next Monday off for the long holiday weekend. I'm hoping to use the time to get a lot of things on my To Do list crossed off. My list is getting way too long to the point where I look at it and start to feel overwhelmed.

Random Photo:  I'm repeating last week's photo of the crocuses in my yard. I'm so ready for spring and am very happy that we've had some really nice, sunny weather lately.

Monday Check In

Last week...

Writing Related:  I finished revising/editing the pages I had written in the second book in my series so now I can start writing the remainder of the book. I also nailed down the title for that book -- Promises to Keep.

Motivational Quote: It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can." ~ Sidney Smith

What I'm Reading: I'm reading You Betrayed Me by Lisa Jackson. My mom recommended the book to me so I'm giving it a try. I find Ms. Jackson's books are hit and miss with me. Some of them I really like and some of them, I don't.

Random Things: Now that we've hit the official start of spring, I'm hoping we've seen the last of the snow for the winter season or at least not enough to need to shovel it.

Monday Check In

Last week...

Writing Related: I didn't end up uploading Honor Bound to Amazon last week. I ran into a snag setting up my account. I spent most of my writing time last week getting things updated and revised so Honor Bound will be ready to be released by the end of this week. I did manage to write about 15 pages of new material in the second book in the series. I also wrote the blurb for that book. I just need to nail down the title for it.

Motivational Quote: "Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out." ~ Robert Collier

What I'm Reading: I'm reading Hidden by Laura Griffin. This is the first book in the Texas Murder Files series. I absolutely love Ms. Griffin's books. If you're a fan of romantic suspense, I highly recommend them, especially her Tracers series.

Random Things: Isn't it strange that the tasks you think will be easy to check off your To Do list are the ones that seem to take twice as much time and effort as those things you keep putting off because you think they're going to be time consuming.

Monday Check In

Last week...

Writing Related: I had a good writing week last week. Expanded two separate scenes that needed it and revised 30 pages of previously written material. I also got my head shot photo done and have formatted Honor Bound in ebook format so it's ready to be uploaded to Amazon which I hope to do today.

Motivational Quote: "Always just try. Because you never know." ~ Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

What I'm Reading:  I'm finishing up Pies Before Guys by Kirsten Weiss. This is the 4th book in the Pie Town mystery series. While I liked the earlier books in the series, I'm really struggling to get through this one.

Random Things: I'm hard at work crocheting a baby blanket for my niece. She and her husband are expecting their first child in mid April. I fell in love with the pattern which is easy to read and is easy to follow but...you knew there was a but coming, didn't you? The blanket is made in pieces and then put together. The pattern instructions say to single crochet the pieces together but it leaves an obvious raised seam on the wrong side of the blanket that I really don't like so I've been YouTubing videos of different techniques showing how to sew crocheted pieces together. I think I've settled on the reverse mattress stitch. It's nearly invisible on both sides of the blanket.

Monday Check In

Last week...

Writing Related: I only managed to get 15 pages written last week. My mom and I both had doctor appointments (on different days of course) that ate into my writing time.

Motivational Quote: "I truly believe that we can overcome any hurdle that lies before us and create the life we want to live." ~ Gillian Anderson

What I'm Reading: I started reading The Friendship List by Susan Mallery over the weekend. I'm a big fan of Ms. Mallery and have read most of her books.

Random Things: I'm so happy it's March, though February seemed to go by pretty quickly. The closer we get to spring, the happier I am. I'm done with snow and brutally cold weather.
