This I know for sure...

When I was a child, even when I was in high school and college, it seemed that the summer break from classes was a lot longer than the actual 12 or so weeks. Now it seems like summer is here and gone in a flash and we're gearing up for winter weather again.

It could be because winter in my area seems to last forever. In reality it usually runs from mid-November when we get our first snow of the season through mid-April to early May when we finally no longer get any snow.

I'm excited that we'll be changing our clocks ahead an hour this weekend to observe daylight savings time. It means we're one step closer to summer.
