Monday Check In

Last week...

Writing Related: I wrote 25 pages of new material on the new manuscript. I'm still playing around with titles for it. I haven't settled on one I like yet. I contacted a friend who is a professional photographer to see if she has an opening to do an author photo/head shot of me. I'm just waiting to hear back from her on a date that works for us both. I also prepared the front and back matter for the Ebook version of Honor Bound.

Motivational Quote: "Believe you can and you're halfway there." ~ Theodore Roosevelt

What I'm Reading: I'm currently reading Three Widows and a Corpse by Debra Sennefelder. This is the third book in the Food Blogger mystery series.

Random Things: We had next to no snow for November, December, and January - Only 12.9 inches total for all three months. Well the last week of January came and so did the snow. We've had at least an inch or more of snow every day since January 28th to the present with the exception of February 4th. There actually was no snow that day. We now have over 48 inches of snow, most of it falling in the last 3 weeks. After the winter started out with so little snow for almost three months, I was hoping we'd have an easy winter. Looks like that won't happen after all.

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My Current WIP (Work in Progress):  Made a small amount of progress last week - revised 20 pages. I hope to get more done this week now that we are visitor free.

Quote of the Week: "With self-discipline most anything is possible." ~ Theodore Roosevelt (This quote is a repeat from last week. It's something I need to keep in mind.)

What I'm Reading:  I'm not currently reading a book right now. I hope to be able to go to the library on Friday.

Random Thoughts:  It's only July and I'm already getting tired of eating salads, wraps, sandwiches, and other hot weather food that don't require a lot of cooking. When the temperatures are in the mid 80's and higher with oppressive humidity, the last thing I want to do is stand over a hot stove.

Random Photo of the Week:

Not really a photo, but I liked the quote. I also like to read when I'm bored. It allows me to take an adventure without having to leave where I am.

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My Current WIP (Work in Progress): No writing last week as we had visitors from out of town all last week through Monday of this week.

Quote of the Week: "With self-discipline most anything is possible." ~ Theodore Roosevelt

What I'm Reading: I just started reading A Most Extraordinary Pursuit by Juliana Gray. It's a historical mystery or at least seems to be that at this point. I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's very slow going and seems extra wordy. I'm going to stick with it at least for a bit longer in hopes the pacing will pick up.

Random Thoughts:  Keeping along the same lines as what I wrote above in the "What I'm Reading" segment, do you continue to read a book that doesn't hold your interest, where you don't like one or more of the main characters, etc, struggling along to finish it or do you set it aside to read something else? I used to push through and finish every book I started even if it was torture. Now I give a book between 50 or 75 pages and if I don't like it any better by that point, I either take it back to the library (if I borrowed it from them) or donate it to the library unfinished. I have too many books on my "Want to Read" list to read books I don't like.

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My current WIP (work in progress): I tore out a good portion of a scene that wasn't working for me (It wasn't working for my critique partner either) and re-wrote it. I'm going to give it to her to have her take another look at it and see if it flows better.

Quote of the week: "Believe you can and you're halfway there." ~ Theodore Roosevelt

What I'm reading: I just finished Beyond Limits by Laura Griffin. This is book 8 in her Tracers series.

Random things: I toss broken up stale bread and crackers in a small area of our yard for the birds. My cat sits and watches the birds and they fly to and fro either eating the bread or taking a piece or two with them. My sister says I'm being cruel to the cat by drawing the birds to the yard. What do you think?

Random Photo of the Week:

Dash spent an entire evening playing in and beating up the box that held a new portable heater. As you can tell, he also chewed on the corners of the flaps. Who needs cat toys? :o)

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My current WIP (work in progress): I was right. I didn't do any writing to speak of. I managed to jot down a few ideas but that's about it.

Quote of the week: "Believe you can and you're halfway there." ~ Theodore Roosevelt  I've printed this out and it hangs where I can see it every day.

What I'm reading: I'm still reading It's Always Been You by Jessica Scott. I didn't have much time to read last week either, but I did have a great visit with family that I don't see that often.

Random things:  I received news that my work schedule may be changing again. I'm really hoping it happens because I'll go back to almost the same hours I had before. I should know for sure within the week. Keeping my fingers crossed. :o)

Random Photo of the Week:

A picture of my cat recovering from his trip to the "dentist." They shaved part of the fur off his front leg for the IV.

What's Up Wednesday

I've decided to continue the "What's Up Wednesday" posts with a couple of minor changes. Let me know what you think.

This week...

My current WIP (work in progress): I've set aside the book I was revising. I think I'm too close to it. I've been typing a book I wrote in 2013 in long hand onto my laptop so I can start revisions on it.

Quote of the week: "Believe you can and you're halfway there." ~ Theodore Roosevelt.  Sometimes we just need to believe we can do something even when it feels impossible.

What I'm reading: Desperate Hearts by Rosanne Bittner. This is a western historical romance set in 1866. I've never read anything by this author. It was recommended to me by a friend. (The "What I'm reading" segment will just list what I'm currently reading with no opinion about the book, good or bad.)

Random things:  A sign you've lived in upstate NY too long - a high temperature of 34 degrees in the winter seems warm.

I don't have a random photo, but will start posting those again next week.
