Unfortunately it seems every few months or so there is another plagiarism case that rocks the writing world or a genre within the writing world. The latest scandal, that I'm aware of, happened in February where an author, who I shall not name, is accused of plagiarizing the work of numerous romance authors in her books. It is my understanding the book(s) involved have been pulled from the marketplace.
One of authors she is accused of plagiarizing is an intellectual property lawyer. First, I firmly believe plagiarism in any form is wrong whether it be passages in a novel, or a term paper written for a high school or college class. Second, in today's highly connected world, how would anyone think they could get away with it? And to plagiarize a lawyer who specializes in intellectual property law? Good grief, if anyone would know how to pursue a lawsuit against copyright infringement/plagiarism it would be this type of lawyer.
