Monday Check In

 Last week...

Writing Related:  I did okay writing wise last week. I didn't hit my weekly goal of 12,500 new words but I did manage to write 7,750 new words so I'm about 19 pages short of where I should be at this time. This week should be quieter so I'm hoping to be able to make up most if not all of last week's shortfall along with this week's writing goal.

Motivational Quote: "So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-- It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit." ~ Edgar Guest

What I'm Reading: I'm about halfway through State of Affairs by Marie Force. This is the first book in the First Family series which is a spin off of the Fatal series. Both are a suspense or romantic suspense type series.

Random Things: It's been cold (highs in the 40's) for a few days then it warms up to the low to mid 70's then back to the 40's so I've been doing a lot of baking on the colder days. I've made cheese bread, tiger bread, shortbread cookies, and chocolate chocolate chip cookies. The problem with baking is that I've been eating all the things so no more baking until it's time to start the holiday baking.

Random Photo:

These are the chocolate chocolate chip cookies. They taste like a cross between a cookie and a really fudgy brownie (which is my favorite kind of brownie).

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My Current WIP (Work in Progress): I accomplished very little in the way of writing last week due to the Windows update that goofed up my touchpad (see Monday's post). Now that I have it working properly again, I'm hoping to get a significant amount done this week.

Quote of the Week: "Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task." ~ William James.  I'm repeating last week's quote because I feel like this book is taking forever to get ready to put on the market.

What I'm Reading: I started reading "Fatal Accusations" by Marie Force over the weekend. It's the 15th book in the Fatal series. I'm also still struggling to finish "A Most Unlikely Duke" by Sophie Barnes. I only have about 100 pages left, but it seems like a thousand. I try not to say anything negative about a book because reading is so subjective, but this book just is killing me to finish.

Random Thoughts:  I made gluten free chocolate chocolate chip cookies last weekend. I don't avoid gluten for dietary issues. (That would be torturous. I love bread too much) I wanted to save the flour I have to make bread because finding flour to purchase is kind of hit or miss in my area right now. The cookies were really easy to make and taste great.

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My Current WIP (Work in Progress):  Last week was a bust writing wise. Hoping to get back on track this week.

Quote of the Week:  "Every day is a new beginning. Take a deep breath, smile, and start again." ~ Unknown

What I'm Reading:  I just finished "Fatal Reckoning" by Marie Force last night. It's the fourteenth book in the Fatal Series.

Random Thoughts:  Please follow the recommendations of our federal and local governments. Be safe and try to avoid crowds and wash your hands as often as possible. Take special care of your elder loved ones and those with compromised immune systems.

Random Photo of the Week:

During this time, I want to be like Somebody and just hide under the blankets in my bed.

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My Current WIP (Work in Progress): I revised about 20 pages that I received back from my critique partner and wrote 8 pages of new material to start filling in the missing pages space. I feel like I've got a good handle on what needs to be written. I just need to write it.

Quote of the Week: "Don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great." ~ John D. Rockefeller

What I'm Reading: I started reading "Fatal Chaos" by Marie Force on Monday night. This is the 12th book in the Fatal series.

Random Thoughts:  It's only the first week of fall and my front yard is already littered with leaves. The tree in my neighbor's yard across the street is still completely green and I don't think has lost a single leaf yet.

Random Photo of the Week:

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My Current WIP (Work in Progress):  I made some revisions/changes to the first two chapters from suggestions I received from my critique partner. It was a busy week so this was something that needed to be done and that I could fit into my crazy schedule.

Quote of the Week: "Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies." ~ Mother Teresa

What I'm Reading: I started reading Fatal Identity by Marie Force Sunday night. This is the tenth book in the Fatal series. I really like this series and am glad to get back to it.

Random Thoughts: It is taking much longer to knit the panels that have the colored triangles in them. I can knit a cream colored panel panel in one to two weeks, but the colored triangle panel takes about four weeks. When I first started this project I was thinking I would have it done in about three months. Now, I'm thinking I might be done with it by September. Hopefully.

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My current WIP (work in progress):  Started working on revisions again this past Monday. Going to work hard to try and have them done by Labor Day.

Quote of the Week: "Every time you set your mind to something and then you do it, you remind yourself of the power you have over what you do, think, and feel." ~ Jane McGonigal

What I'm reading: I just started reading Fatal Frenzy, the 9th book in Marie Force's Fatal series.

Random things: I've staying up until midnight or so watching the Olympics. Even though I'm currently out of work recovering from ankle reconstruction surgery, I still get up at 6:00am every morning. I'm finding that I either I need to start sleeping a little later or I need to go to bed earlier because I've fallen asleep in the afternoon for the last 4 days.

Random Photo of the Week:

I've been feeling a bit like this early morning visitor lately.
