Monday Check In

Last week...

Writing Related:  I didn't hit the 12k mark I was aiming for, but I did get 10k done so I'm happy with that. I'm hoping to get at least that much done this week but I'm having family in town two days this week plus I need to do a bit of baking for the upcoming Easter holiday so fingers crossed that I'll get a decent amount written.

Motivational Quote:  "Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races, one after another." ~ Walter Elliott

What I'm Reading:  I'll be starting Omens by Kelley Armstrong tonight. It's the first book in the Cainsville series. This is an older series that was recommended to me by one of my sisters. I borrowed the book from the library probably a year or so ago with the intention of reading it, but never got to it before it had to be returned. I'm determined to read it this time around.

Random Thoughts:  Oh my goodness! Where is spring? It's been cold in the 30's and snowy or a wintery mix of snow and rain for most of last week. I'll put a picture below of what it looked like outside my living room window last Tuesday.

Random Photo:

It was still snowing when I took the photo, but you can't really tell in the picture.

Monday Check In

Last week...

Writing Related:  I managed to get 5k written last week despite dealing with the fallout from an unforeseen event. There are still some details that need to be taken care of and I'm having a minor medical procedure done tomorrow so I'm not sure how much I'll get written this week.

Motivational Quote:  "Decide what is yours to hold and let the rest go." ~ Taylor Swift.             I came across this quote a few days ago. It felt the like the universe was trying to tell me there is only so much I do regarding the unexpected event I mentioned above so I'm doing what I can and hoping for the best.

What I'm Reading:  I started reading The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros last night. It's a stand alone contemporary romance novel. I'm not very far into it but I'm enjoying it so far.

Random Thoughts:  I can't believe it's the last day of March. This month has flown by. For me, March usually drags on and on and on. It's the month that seems to never end. It's more than likely because by the time early March arrives, I'm so tired of winter weather that I'm anxiously counting the days to spring. I don't mean the official start of spring shown on calendars, I mean real spring - when the days are sunny with temperatures in the 60's and low 70's. Unfortunately, those days don't usually show up in my area until the end of April or early May.

Random Photo:

I'm a big fan of Pop-Tarts and eat way more of them than I should. My sister bought this from an Etsy shop and gave it to me for Christmas last year.

What's Up Wednesday

This week...

My Current WIP (Work in Progress): I revised the synopsis for Honor Bound and pulled out my first draft of Spell Bound to start working on getting it ready for submission. I'm not sure I like the title, so that might change.

Quote of the Week: “To do what you can while you are where you are – that’s all you can ask of yourself.” ~ Unknown.  (Repeated the quote from last week as I needed to be reminded of it.)

What I'm Reading:  I started reading Kneaded to Death by Winnie Archer last weekend. It's the first book in the Bread Shop Mystery series. It's a bit slow going. I'm hoping the pacing picks up soon.

Random Thoughts: It was 65 degrees, bright, and sunny on Monday. After the polar vortex and negative wind chills last week, the warm weather was a welcome respite. The only bad thing is it made me even more eager for spring. The forecast for the coming weekend in back in the 20's for the high temperatures. Each day I keep telling myself we're one more day closer to spring.

Random Photo of the Week:

I was never a person who went out to the clubs/bars all the time but as I grow older, I love spending the evenings home doing nothing in particular especially after a long week at work.

What's Up Wednesday

This week:

My current WIP (work in progress):  No progress last week. This is my last week of working extra hours so I hope to be back to writing next week.

Quote of the Week:  “To be able to direct all of your energy into what matters to you most may seem like a distant luxury today, but with a little planning, you could make this happen.” ~Unknown

What I'm reading: Death, Taxes, and Sweet Potato Fries by Diane Kelly.

Random Thoughts: As I look out my window, I can see the buds on the trees begin to open. It's amazing how much this proof that spring is actually here makes me feel lighter and happier.

Random Picture of the Week:

Another sign of spring. I've spotted the bunny that lives in the neighborhood.
