Am I Crazy?

Writing has always been something I've done whether on paper or just in my head.  Sometimes I'd rewrite stories I'd read or movies I'd watched to make them "better."  Other times characters appeared in my mind fully formed insisting I write down their exploits.  Over the years, after having friends back away slowly when I start talking about the people who only exist in my head and others who pretend to be interested, but soon their eyes glaze over and drool forms at the corners of their mouths, I began to wonder if I was crazy as I spoke about imaginary men and women that only I heard.  Then I met other people like me.  I wasn't crazy after all.  I was a writer.  What a relief.

I hope you’ll join me on my journey as I wend my way through the trials and tribulations of balancing the day job, writing along with its inevitable rejections, and blogging.  Each Monday, I'll be posting about writing and life in general, Wednesdays will be about what I'm currently reading, and each Friday I'll be posting, to paraphrase Oprah, what I know for sure.  I also hope to have guest bloggers at least once a month on Wednesdays.

Please feel free to comment.  I'll be checking back in the evenings on the days that I post.

Katherine

  1. I like your blog. Very attractive. Interesting subject matter. I can't wait to read Fridays. The things I know for sure take up the smallest space:-) Paula

  2. Soon you will find the people in your mind are infinitely more interesting and engaging than the real people in your life. Then...then you learn to smile as your eyes glaze over with boredom from listening to the real people. Listen to the voices in your head, if you don't they'll wake you up in the middle of the night. Like the blog. Very pretty, soothing background. Much success to you.

  4. The blog looks fine. Blogging takes time and takes away from fiction writing. But it gives you online presence and gives agents/publishers the knowledge that you are aware of marketing--their priority (aside from excellent writing). Good luck on the blog, and remember to make the subjects of your work subjects in the blog. Your goal is to attract readers who will be interested in your work--not just other writers.

  8. Nice, Katherine. You've taken on a lot of work. EB is right. She's right about all of it. It takes a lot of time, but it does give you a web presence. Very important. So hang in there and remember--we're all in it together.
    Happy writing!
